About our school...
Set in approximately four acres, Kirkby Malzeard C.E. Primary School
nestles close to St. Andrew’s church in a Yorkshire Dales village of
about 1000 inhabitants. There has been a school in the village since
Tudor times.
The main school building - constructed in 1970 – incorporates two classrooms, library, assembly hall/dining area, headteacher’s office, school kitchen and offices as well as a recently constructed hygiene room for children and staff with disabilities. The adjacent, original 19th century school building houses the ICT suite and the music room. Additionally there are two mobile classrooms, both of which are networked for ICT purposes.
The school grounds are extensive, incorporating a playground, playing fields and a wildlife garden on which is sited an outdoor activities classroom.

There is also a separate and independent pre-school facility on the site, funded by the community, which can accommodate 24 children.Currently the school staff comprises a head-teacher (Mrs. Andrea Peacock), five further teachers - one full-time and four job-sharing, four teaching assistants, plus ancillary staff and secretaries.
Student teachers also visit as part of their training.
